Spirals have recently re-engaged us to work on a specific microsite for the Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Foundation NHS Trust (NWMHFT).The eTNA (e-enabled Training Needs Assessment) system was created by us from scratch, using PHP and MySQL.
Before a test is taken, the system takes the details of each staff member, their role, work level and which sector of the NMWHFT they work in.
Each NWMHFT staff member takes the test on the system with their manager, answering multiple-choice questions on a range of IT-based systems including Microsoft Office (sections on Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint), Internet skills and Presentation. The tests are pre-selected on the basis of each staff-members role.
When the tests are complete, the system works out a score based on the number of correct answers, and compares this to a matrix of IT Requirements for each role, section and class. The resulting scores assess whether each member needs any further IT Training in order to improve their suitability for the roles.
The IT Department of the NWMHFT have been very pleased with the eTNA tool, and with the reports and information coming back from its use.
