Daily Word Challenge (DWC) is a simple site where every day a new word is selected from a database. Site users/visitors then have to use the word during that day. Once done, they can either leave a comment, or upload a photo or MP3 file of them using that word. The site launched on 1st March 2009 after less than a month's development time.We were contacted by the owners of Daily Word Challenge to build the site from scratch, including all the comments and upload functionality, as well as an admin back-end where the owners can add new words, delete comments, blacklist spammers and many other functions.
In addition, site revenue is initially to be generated by use of Google's AdSense ad-serving technology. If the site is as successful as the owners hope, we will be involved in creating a new Ad Server specifically for use on Daily Word Challenge.
This project is on-going, and post-launch we will be working to develop new channels to drive people towards the DWC site. This will include setting up a Twitter feed using their API, allowing users to subscribe and receive a daily email, a site RSS feed, and also the possibility of a small Facebook application. The DWC site will automatically send the new daily word to any/all existing feeds at midnight GMT, thus maximising the number of viewers/users for any given daily word.
Daily Word Challenge closed down at the start of January 2010.
