Continuing on the development from the initial phase of online rebooking for Swim School pupils for South Norfolk Council, the second phase of the rebooking system has involved a range of upgrades and improvements to the existing system, including a rewrite of the booking process itself.The main additional section in this phase of the development is a whole new administration section which allows the Swimschool tutors and managers to do all the standard administration tasks online, directly into the system. These tasks include the ability for reception staff to add new pupils, change pupil details, display the contact details for all pupils in a particular class (for example if a class needs to be cancelled) and list all classes that are still open to new bookings, as well as reports for showing which classes are sold out or more than half full at any point in the booking periods. In addition, the system allows an instantaneous recount of all bookings and available slots for any given lesson,
In the two weeks of the rebooking period for the Summer 2009 term, the system processed over 1,000 bookings, split between online transactions using credit-card processing and reception bookings where the money was taken direct at the leisure centres. At least 80% of the bookings were done online - meaning that those people had booked quickly and easily, without the need for the Swimschools to bring in extra staff, or for there to be queues of waiting customers at the reception desk.
Several users of the new Swimschool website and booking system sent in emails of thanks, with one customer saying "The ability to rebook a swimming course at Wymondhan Leisure centre is just fantastic and it is really easy and quick to do. After experiencing the seventh circle of hell queuing to rebook in person this is very very welcome."
